Timofey Manul from the Moscow Zoo has started a summer internship
Timofey Manul, one of the symbols of the Moscow Zoo, has started preparing for the warm season — fattening, that is, gradually losing weight accumulated over the winter. This was announced on March 25 in the zoo's channel in the MAX messenger.
"We have developed a smooth weight loss schedule for Timofey. Now he has one fasting day a week — as a rule, he goes without food on Sunday," said Svetlana Akulova, General director of the zoo.
It is noted that by the middle of winter Timofey's weight reached 6.5 kg, now he weighs 5.6 kg. His diet includes rodents and quails. In May, the number of unloading days will be increased to two per week, and the process is expected to be completed by early summer.
With the onset of heat, manul began to leave the house more often for a walk — you can see him in the outdoor enclosure around nine in the morning, as well as during the daytime. Timofey also began to shed his thick undercoat, and by June his coat will turn red.
On March 20, the Warsaw Zoo announced that it was not considering the possibility of its female manula, named Jessie, participating in a breeding program with animals from Russia, including Timofey. The zoo explained its decision not with political motives, but with the current international protocols.
The Moscow City Hall announced on March 12 that online broadcasts from the Moscow Zoo on the portal mos.ru Since the launch, more than a million unique users have viewed it. At the same time, Timofey Manul turned out to be one of the most popular animals among the audience.
