Foreigners may envy the social measures that exist in Russia. This was stated on March 25 by three-time Olympic figure skating champion and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Irina Rodnina in an interview with Sport24.

"What can foreigners envy us about? Probably our very large social programs. No country in the world has such programs to support the population," she said.

At the same time, she stressed that other countries have their own social initiatives, but they are inferior in number and diversity to Russian ones. In particular, according to Rodnina, this concerns programs to support motherhood, the elderly and youth, including in the field of education.

Another measure of social support appeared in the Russian Federation on January 1: an annual family payment became available to Russians. The Single child benefit, which was introduced in 2023, replaced six different state aid measures.
