The attacks on Moscow and St. Petersburg, which are carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are due to Kiev's awareness of its loss. This was announced on March 25 by Scott Ritter, a former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence analyst and former weapons of mass destruction inspector at the United Nations Special Commission on Iraq.

"Ukraine understands that with the current development of the situation, in this conflict of attrition, it is losing. They know they're losing. They need something to change dramatically," he said in an interview with TASS.

The agency's interlocutor clarified that representatives of the Kiev authorities want to involve Western countries in this situation. According to him, Ukraine expects Europe to provide it with aviation and, possibly, "even ground troops." Now, adherents of this idea, as Ritter emphasized, need to change Washington's attitude to the conflict.

"They need the United States to change its position and say, 'We support Ukraine,'" he explained.
