Soldiers of the assault unit of the 38th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 35th Combined Arms army of the Vostok group told the details of the cleansing and liberation of the network of strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Zaporizhia region. The relevant footage is published by the Russian Defense Ministry on March 25.

The assault troops invisibly penetrated into the enemy's rear at a distance of about 5 km and captured a key road intersection. This made it possible to cut off the supply of ammunition and the rotation of the Armed Forces personnel.

"We've reached the point. They began to clean up the enemy's strongholds. We passed through the first stronghold calmly, there was no enemy there. And then, with a fire attack on our group, they advanced and cleared the second stronghold," the commander of the assault unit with the call sign Lev told about the intricacies of the combat mission.

There was a concentration of enemy personnel in the third stronghold. The assault group cleared the stronghold, after which the soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation occupied the stronghold and contacted the commanders. The modern equipment of the attack aircraft has become a crucial factor in maintaining positions and coordinating their actions.

"We were given a domestic-made connection for everyone, along with outriggers, chargers, and a complete set for every serviceman. The band was completely in touch. When the stronghold was occupied, they set up a takedown — the communication was constant with the commanders, stable. I heard how groups were moving to help me, how they were acting on the other flanks," Lev noted the reliability of domestic communications equipment in conditions of intense fire contact.

Taking control of the crossroads and liberating the strongholds made it impossible for the enemy to safely move reserves, creating favorable conditions for the further offensive of the Vostok group of forces in the Zaporizhia region.

On March 24, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the calculations of the 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery installation (ACS) of the Vostok group of forces destroyed a network of fortified AFU strongholds in the Zaporizhia region. The discovered stronghold was designed for long-term retention and included dugouts, UAV control points and electronic warfare (EW) stations.
