The court extended the preventive measure in the form of detention for six months to businessman Araik Amirkhanyan, who is being investigated for the murder of former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ilya Kiva. This was reported on March 24 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

"The court has also granted a motion to consider a criminal case with the participation of jurors," lawyer Artur Putukyan told Izvestia.

It is specified that Amirkhanyan offered his condolences to Kiva's daughter.

Kiva's body was found on December 6, 2023 at the Velich Country club in a park near Moscow. Then the killer fired twice, approaching the politician from behind. The first bullet hit the heart area, the second one hit the head.

Later, on December 11, 2023, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) had been preparing an operation to eliminate Kiva for a long time. Her agents studied all possible details of the routes of the former MP, his daily routine and habits.

On September 16, 2025, a court in the Moscow Region arrested Amirkhanyan as part of the investigation into Kiva's murder until November 2. On October 30, the court extended the measure of restraint for Amirkhanyan. It was noted that the businessman will remain in custody until December 6.
