Choosing a series for the evening has become easier thanks to the rating from Medialogia

For movie lovers in Russia, a new service has been developed — a rating of the popularity of TV series from the Medialogia company. It takes into account how long and on which platforms the audience interacted with the content. The details about the rating on March 24 were told by the correspondent of Izvestia Maxim Prikhod.

In the title of the presentation of the Russian series rating, one of the main questions that has ever been asked in the cinema is: "What is the power?". The main cinematographers of the country gathered here are sure of the people's love! And now they finally have the opportunity to measure it correctly.

"We have created a product that allows us to make a qualitative assessment of TV series based on their popularity in all media and audiences," said Irina Solomatina, CEO of Medialogia.

The Russian rating of TV series is intended, without exaggeration, to change the entire domestic film industry.

"The Russian rating of TV series is a compass that will show everyone involved in their production which projects the audience really likes. And the audience will know exactly what is worthy of attention," said correspondent Maxim Prikhoda.

Before that, cinematographers worked in semi-darkness, if not by touch.: Television had its own rating system, and each of the platforms had its own.

"Most production studios like us worked blindly. Or if you have a good friend who "secretly" tells you that everything is fine. You used to go to Gorbushka and see which discs sold the best. And it was a cool yardstick," said producer and screenwriter Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov.

Now the creators have a single and, as far as possible, objective tool.

"Viewing statistics allow us not only to rejoice at the success of a particular series, but also allows us to trace this last and most important link in a long industrial chain, namely the viewer's link," said Fyodor Bondarchuk, director and general producer of NMG Studios.

There are about two dozen metrics used to determine the popularity of content. Medialogia analysts do not fully disclose them, but it is known that the fact of viewing both on television and on platforms and video hosting sites, the duration of this viewing, the frequency of mentions in the media and social networks, and search queries are taken into account.

"We measure the full funnel of content consumption, that is, three stages: demand, discussion and viewing. Why is it in this format? Because it describes in as much detail and as fully as possible how users consume content at all its stages," explained Evgeny Mironov, head of the working group on the development of the Russian Series rating.

Together with the methodology, Medialogy presents the top 100 itself. They chose it from all the series that were released in 2025. There's high—budget Hollywood, Korean dramas, Turkish TV series, anime, and new seasons of your favorite franchises, both game and animated. The main conclusion is that with such competition, 60% are domestic products.

"We are very sensitive, even with all the assessment tools, to monitor how attention to our projects is changing. And of course, when another evaluation criterion comes up now, it won't be that much easier for us... This will probably allow us to draw slightly more accurate conclusions in terms of understanding audience expectations," said Anatoly Tupitsyn, executive producer of the REN TV channel.

There are several projects commissioned by the REN TV and Fifth TV channels in the top. The main winner is the long—running hit TV series "Sled". He, having lost only to the new seasons of "The Squid Game" and "Very Strange Cases", took the third place in the rating.

"It seems to me that the audience is very comfortable and comfortable with us, because we are like such a duvet. We will actually protect you. And our heroes, our characters, they are already like family members. You come home, turn on the TV, and there are some people who can entertain you, and you can travel with them and find yourself in different situations, but evil will always be punished," says Marina Belova, Deputy General Director, Director of the Program and Marketing Directorate of Channel Five.

The rating will be updated every month. And the viewers who will be following him will be able to quickly find out what they are watching now, most of all discussing, searching in search engines, that is, what is definitely worth spending a few evenings on.

"The viewer likes to watch the popular, it's true. There is a part of the audience for whom social viewing is important, it is important to come to work, discuss with colleagues, but I watched it today. And when everyone looked, but you didn't look, you seem to be a little outside of society," explained screenwriter, producer Andrei Zolotarev.

As for cinematographers, there is no need to be afraid that, having seen which projects occupy the first places, they will rush to shoot their sequels, prequels and spin-offs in unison. No one has canceled the courage and creative search. It's just that now the servants of the most important of the arts will have a clearer idea of what they are looking for.

On the same day, Medialogia presented the Russian series rating, the first release of which was the top 100 most popular projects of 2025. The scoring methodology takes into account 19 different parameters. The system analyzes not only search queries, but also the actual viewing time on TV and online platforms, as well as the discussion activity in social networks.

Alexander Kosarim, Content director of the Wink video service, noted in a conversation with Izvestia that the rating of the Medialogia series allows an objective assessment of the popularity of projects among viewers. According to him, large-scale budgets for marketing campaigns of projects sometimes create a false feeling that viewers are actively interested in the content.
