Volkswagen carmaker and Cupra (a subsidiary of the Spanish automaker SEAT, part of the Volkswagen Group) are recalling more than 94,000 electric vehicles worldwide due to the threat of fire. This was reported on March 24 by the Frankfurter Rundschau (FR) newspaper with reference to the Federal Office of Motor Transport of Germany.

"74,579 VW ID vehicles are subject to recall.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo, as well as 19,452 Cupra Born cars. In Germany, about 28,000 vehicles need to be sent to repair shops: 22,182 VW electric vehicles and 5,976 vehicles from Seat's Spanish subsidiary, Cupra," the publication says.

It is noted that the cars that fall under the recall campaign were released between February 7, 2022 and August 23, 2024.

Reuters reported on January 27 that German automaker Volkswagen has initiated a recall campaign for 44,551 electric vehicles in the United States due to the potential risk of battery fires. It was noted that Volkswagen dealers will update the software for free or diagnose and replace the batteries in all electric vehicles that have been recalled.
