Oncologist Evgeny Cheryomushkin told why Lercek went blind in one eye during cancer treatment.

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, March 24, he noted that there may be several reasons for the loss of vision in one eye of blogger Valeria Chekalina, who is undergoing treatment for stage four stomach cancer.

According to the expert, possible causes may be related to the eye itself, the retina or the optic nerve, as well as to the central nervous system, where the center of vision is located. He also did not rule out the effect of chemotherapy, noting that without additional data, one can only assume.

The expert stressed that in order to determine the cause, doctors need to study the results of an MRI scan of the brain. According to him, this will help to understand whether the deterioration of vision is related to treatment. He added that if it were a systemic reaction of the body, both eyes would be affected, and the defeat of one may indicate local damage or other features that require additional study.

Valeria Chekalina is currently undergoing treatment at the Blokhin National Medical Oncology Research Center.

Earlier on March 24, Lercek's fiance Luis Squicciarini announced that she had gone blind in her right eye after the first chemotherapy and immunotherapy. According to him, his right eye is not yet fully visible, RT clarifies. The pain syndrome in the leg became less after radiation therapy, the website writes kp.ru .

The blogger gave birth to her fourth child at the end of February. At the same time, the girl was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. Later, the blogger underwent spinal surgery, IA Regnum notes.

After being released from house arrest, Chekalina paid more than 175 million rubles to the tax service, fully paying off her debt to the Federal Tax Service, reports 360.ru .

Lerchek's ex-husband Artyom Chekalin also spoke about the blogger's condition. He noted that he does not envy his ex-wife for being released from court sessions due to illness and that it is better to be in court than to be sick, Moscow 24 notes.
