More than 170,000 Dutch people have signed a boycott of the 2026 World Cup

In the Netherlands, more than 170,000 people have signed a petition calling for a boycott of the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to the policies of US President Donald Trump. This was announced on March 24 by the Dutch TV channel RTL Nieuws.

The document has been submitted to the country's parliament for consideration. The initiator was journalist Theun van de Keuken, who, along with his co-authors, considers the participation of the Dutch national team in the tournament unacceptable due to Washington's "aggressive military intervention" in the affairs of other states and rhetoric on Greenland. He insists that the decision should not remain solely within the competence of the Royal Netherlands Football Union (KNVB).
