- The media suspected a trick in Trump's decision to postpone strikes on Iran's energy sector
The decision announced yesterday by US President Donald Trump to postpone strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure may be part of a strategic maneuver aimed at lulling the vigilance of the authorities of the Islamic Republic. The Berliner Zeitung newspaper wrote about this on March 24.
"The question of whether Trump's apparent capitulation is an admission of military failure or a cunning move designed to lull Iran's vigilance will become clear as the fighting continues. However, one thing is certain: it will be difficult for the Americans to guarantee the protection of the Strait of Hormuz," the publication says.
The authors of the article note that Trump can use the time gained in this way to gain a strategic advantage, but the position of American troops in the region remains unenviable.
Trump announced on March 23 that the US military would temporarily suspend strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure amid talks between Washington and Tehran. He also said that the United States and Iran had held two days of fruitful negotiations to resolve the conflict.
On the same day, the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly denied the information about the alleged negotiations. According to the ministry, peace initiatives come only from the countries of the Middle East, and the statements of the American leader are an attempt to "buy time" for a military operation.
The Ynet portal, citing an Israeli official, reported on March 23 that the United States plans to announce the end of the military operation against Iran on April 9. It is specified that this will allow the American leader to visit Israel on Independence Day to receive the award.
