Neither the Iranian authorities nor the Armed Forces have sent any proposals to the United States to declare a ceasefire. This was stated on March 24 by a member of the Majlis (Parliament of Iran) Committee on national security, Yakub Reza-zadeh.

"The diplomatic staff, the government and the armed forces did not conduct any negotiations, discussions or proposals on ending the war and a cease—fire," the ISNA news agency quoted him as saying on its Telegram channel.

In addition, Reza-Zadeh noted that the words of the American leader Donald Trump about the announcement of a five-day truce are related to the control of oil prices on world markets. At the same time, he admitted that this step could pursue the promotion of sinister "military goals."

The Israeli publication Ynet reported on the same day that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, during a telephone conversation with the United States Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, allegedly said that Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei had agreed to talks with the United States. An Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Khamenei allegedly made it clear that he "approved the speedy completion of this story if our conditions are met."

The American president said yesterday that the US military would temporarily suspend strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure amid talks between Washington and Tehran. He also said that the United States and Iran had held two days of fruitful negotiations to resolve the conflict.

On the same day, the Iranian Foreign Ministry strongly denied the information about the alleged negotiations. According to the ministry, peace initiatives come only from the countries of the Middle East, and the statements of the American leader are an attempt to "buy time" for a military operation.
