A sauna is not dangerous for a man's reproductive health with a reasonable visit. Anton Alferov, a leading urologist at the K+31 West clinic, told Izvestia on March 24.

"If we consider only the reproductive function, heating, bathing or other high temperatures really affect the sperm cells. However, their life cycle is approximately 2.5–3 months, so after this time, the cells are fully renewed and ready for further activity. You should not panic, but it is also not recommended to abuse bath procedures," the specialist noted, stating that it is much more important to take into account the state of the cardiovascular system when going to the sauna.

According to Alferov, the safe frequency of visits to the baths is once or twice a week, without fanaticism. Before taking a spermogram, it is recommended to refrain from hiking for three to four days. Heat slows down the sperm rate, but it recovers within a few weeks.

In addition, the urologist added that a spermogram for delivery is shown only to couples who cannot conceive a child for six months or more. In other cases, routine testing is not recommended.

On the same day, the Ministry of Health reported that regular exposure to high temperatures on the body would be the reason for an in-depth examination of male reproductive health as part of a medical examination. If you answer "yes" to the questions of the anamnestic questionnaire No. 1 (do you regularly visit baths, saunas and other places with elevated ambient temperatures?) The patient is referred to the second stage of the DORZ for a basic sperm quality examination (spermogram) followed by a consultation with a urologist.
