- Rosatom told about plans to start construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan in the summer
Rosatom State Corporation plans to start construction of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan this summer. This was announced on March 24 by the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, after signing a roadmap for cooperation between the corporation and the Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan (Uzatom).
It is noted that the roadmap covers all the main directions and interactions on the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, including personnel training, public awareness and the creation of a future city at the station.
"Today we are starting to fill in the "podbetonka" in order to move towards the summer to the "first concrete" at the facility, which <...>.. It includes two small blocks," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
In addition, the parties have approved an additional agreement to the construction contract. The document provides for a new, integrated configuration of the power plant. As part of the current construction phase, it is planned to pour about 900 cubic meters of concrete mix to prepare the base for the reactor building.
Last November, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid special attention to cooperation in the energy sector. It was noted that the leaders discussed interregional cooperation in strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
