The United States authorities are putting pressure on Kiev and demanding the complete withdrawal of troops from Donbass, threatening to deprive Ukraine of support. This was reported on March 24 by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper, citing sources.

"The American side is putting pressure on Ukraine together with the Russian Federation regarding the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk region (part of the DPR controlled by Ukraine. — Ed.). According to sources, in the absence of progress, the United States may withdraw from the negotiations and focus on military operations in Iran," the article says.

According to one of the members of the team of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, the Americans may withdraw from the negotiation process and completely switch to Iran if they do not come to an agreement with Ukraine on the "main issue." Washington is also ready to provide Kiev with some security guarantees in the event of withdrawal from Donbass.

"[Ukrainian negotiators] spend a lot of time trying to somehow pull the Americans away from the idea of withdrawing [troops from Donbass] towards creating some kind of economic zones or something else. But at some point, everything is discarded, and we hear again: "We need to get out." And so on in a circle," Ukrainska Pravda quoted a source familiar with the negotiations as saying.

According to one of Zelensky's team members, Europe is now trying to circumvent Hungary's "resistance" in order to allocate new funds to Kiev. But if Brussels "does not come up with anything," then in the second half of 2026 Ukraine will have no money left for social benefits.
