The Gulf states are approaching an open conflict against Iran. This was announced on March 24 by Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman.

According to one of the interlocutors of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the kingdom's participation in the hostilities against Tehran is currently considered only a "matter of time."

A significant shift in Riyadh's position is confirmed by the fact that the country's authorities have begun to provide their military infrastructure for the needs of the United States. According to WSJ sources, Saudi Arabia has allowed the American contingent to use the King Fahd air base in the west of the country.

"Recent steps support America's ability to launch airstrikes and open up a new line of attack on Tehran's finances," the newspaper emphasizes.

On March 22, the WSJ reported on the concerns of the United States and Israel over the possible involvement of the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in the conflict with Iran. It is noted that Yemen's entry into the conflict will dramatically raise the stakes, creating a direct threat to the security of the Suez Canal and drawing Saudi Arabia and Egypt into the confrontation.
