European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the forced abrupt withdrawal of the European Union from Russian energy resources in 2022 was a severe test for the economy and residents of the EU. She stated this on March 24, speaking in the Australian Parliament.

"The increase in fuel prices is painful for our citizens. In Europe, we are rethinking our dependence, especially on Russian gas.
