The first Sri Lankan labor migrants were sent to Russia, but a significant increase should not be expected in the near future. This was announced on March 24 by Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Levan Dzhagaryan.

"Currently, certain groups of migrant workers have already been sent from Sri Lanka to Russia, but the implementation of these initiatives is accompanied by significant difficulties," he told TASS.
