- Ukrainian media reported on Kiev's non-admission of EU experts to the Druzhba oil pipeline
European experts are not allowed to inspect the damage to the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine, they have not been able to access the facility for five days. This was reported on March 23 by the Ukrainian Public television channel, citing sources.
"The European experts who arrived in Ukraine on March 18 to inspect the damaged oil pipeline are in Kiev," the publication says.
In addition, according to the TV channel, experts will most likely not be allowed to reach the site of the pipeline damage in the near future.
On March 19, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed his commitment to block the granting of a military loan to Ukraine until the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline is restored. According to him, if Brussels allocates a military loan to Ukraine bypassing Hungary's decision, this "will have very serious consequences" for the future and functioning of the EU.
The Euractiv portal reported on March 21 that Ukraine's refusal to allow European inspectors to check on Druzhba was "not encouraging at all." The article also states that Ukraine has been refusing for several weeks to allow EU representatives to assess the alleged damage.
