Oncologist surgeon Andrey On Monday, March 23, Korzhikov listed eight key examinations that will help detect cancer at a stage when it is still asymptomatic. He advised to conduct a comprehensive initial examination at the age of 25.

"The first on the list is not an X—ray, but a CT scan of the chest. It reveals the smallest foci — up to 5 mm — which on a conventional X—ray will become noticeable only at a size of 1.5 cm," the specialist said in an interview with the "Paragraph".

The oncologist also included a complex of ultrasound examinations (ultrasound) of the thyroid gland, mammary glands, abdominal organs, retroperitoneal space and pelvis in the list of mandatory diagnostic procedures. He stressed that an assessment of the condition of the lymph nodes is mandatory, and endoscopic examinations are the final and very important stage.

The specialist added that esophagogastroscopy and colonoscopy should be performed by the age of 25-30.

"Colon and stomach cancers are becoming more common among young people. If everything is fine, it is enough to repeat these procedures once every five years," Korzhikov said.
