The cause of death of St. Petersburg actor Alexander Khomik was necrosis due to alcohol addiction. This was reported on March 23 by RIA Novosti with reference to his entourage.

According to the agency's interlocutor, the actor has been drinking a lot in the last year due to the death of his mother and the breakup with his girlfriend. He did not take care of his health and was self-medicating. Doctors diagnosed pancreatic necrosis and peritonitis.

He also added that the day before he was persuaded to go to the hospital, but Khomik refused. When the interlocutor arrived at his place, the actor had already been taken away by an ambulance.

"He was operated on, and during the operation he became ill with a heart condition. They started connecting him to a ventilator, but his kidneys failed. He was in intensive care for five days, and died yesterday," he added.
