Over the past weekend, 362 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 49 people were killed and 447 injured. 43 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 23 by the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI). The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

In the Rostov region, on 35 km of the federal highway R-280 Novorossiya, a 52-year-old truck driver with a tank semi-trailer ran into a cable barrier separating traffic flows in opposite directions due to a rupture of the front left wheel. After that, he drove into the oncoming lane, where he alternately collided with a car driven by a 28-year-old motorist, an SUV driven by a 33-year-old driver, and another passenger car driven by a 58-year-old man. After the collision, all four vehicles caught fire. The truck driver, as well as the driver and passenger of the third passenger car were killed in the car accident.

23 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 32 more road users, including four children, needed medical help. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.

As a result of 110 accidents, 45 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 65 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, and 109 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 27 underage pedestrians, 16 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

58 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 61 young road users, including 28 passengers, were injured. One child, a pedestrian, was killed. So, in the Leningrad Region, in the evening, on 90 km of the outer ring of the federal highway A-118 Ring road, a 48-year-old car driver ran over a 13-year-old sixth-grader who was running across the roadway. A schoolboy who was unaccompanied by adults died.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds parents of underage road users of the need to be more attentive to their children, trying to ensure maximum safety for them and, if possible, personally accompany them to educational or sports activities on weekends. At the same time, it is necessary to use retroreflective elements on their clothes to improve visibility to drivers on the road in the morning and evening.

"It is important to have an explanatory conversation with them about the rules of safe passage through the roadway, emphasizing the need to exclude telephone conversations, listening to music in headphones, chatting on the go in Internet chats and other distracting factors for pedestrians. In addition, you should start driving on a regulated pedestrian crosswalk only when the traffic light permits this action and only after making sure that vehicles allowing pedestrians to pass completely stop. Remember that even a short absence or the slightest negligence of parental control over the behavior and leisure of children often leads to injury or death of young road users," said Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Earlier, on March 19, it was reported that the limit of payments for life and health under the CTP could be increased to 2 million rubles. An agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Russia and the parliamentary corps, said Evgeny Ufimtsev, President of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS).
