UAZ and Sollers cars will receive protection from polycarbamide
A new camera for applying a protective polycarbonate coating to the cargo compartments of Sollers ST6 and Sollers ST8 pickups, and in the future to UAZ Pickup trucks, will start operating at the Ulyanovsk industrial site of the Sollers Group. This is stated in the message of the company's press service, which was received by Izvestia on March 23.
Commissioning is currently underway at the production site, and the start of the protective coating chamber is scheduled for April 2026.
As explained in the company, the new composition of modern elastomeric material has a high degree of resistance to mechanical influences, which should ensure the protection and durability of the cargo compartment in difficult operating conditions. Polycarbamide provides waterproofing and anti-corrosion protection, protecting the metal from moisture, reagents and corrosion formation.
"In terms of the combination of mechanical properties and chemical resistance, the new coating surpasses the Raptor polyurethane formulations previously used," Sollers representatives emphasized.
Earlier, on March 18, it was reported that the Sollers group launched a new production of seats for Sollers ST6 and ST8 pickups at the UAZ industrial site in Ulyanovsk. Avtodom company acted as the industrial partner of the project. Russian suppliers of soft foam elements of pillows, backs and headrests, seat upholstery and heating elements are involved in the project.
On March 13, it became known that Sollers was going to launch a new production of steering wheels, airbags and seat belts, as well as electronic control units at the UAZ industrial site. For the first time, the project will use technologies that have no analogues in Russia.
