Since the beginning of the year, Russia has reduced beer imports from the European Union (EU) to the lowest level since 2004. This is evidenced by data published on the website of the statistical service of the European Union (Eurostat).

According to statistics, at the beginning of the year, beer imports from the EU to Russia amounted to €763.6 thousand, which is seven times less than in January 2025, when the volume of purchases reached €5 million. The figure was the lowest since February 2004, when it amounted to €741.6 thousand.

The sharpest drop in supplies was recorded in individual countries. Imports from Lithuania decreased 107 times (to €9.9 thousand), from the Netherlands — 102 times (to €637), from the Czech Republic — 12 times (to €57.3 thousand), from Germany — seven times (to €214.3 thousand).

The German newspaper Stern reported on February 2 that beer sales in Germany in 2025 decreased by 6% and reached a historically low figure. It was clarified that the decline in demand for alcoholic beverages in Germany has been traced for several years.
