Large-scale military operations in the Middle East have led to critical damage to more than 40 energy facilities in nine countries of the region. This was announced on March 23 by the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol during a speech at the National Press Club of Australia.
According to the head of the agency, the nature of the destruction of oil fields, refineries and pipelines is assessed as "serious or extremely serious."
