Russia is expecting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit this year. This was stated on March 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a video message to the participants and organizers of the international conference "Russia and India: towards a New Agenda for Bilateral Relations."

"In 2026, we are waiting for Prime Minister Modi to visit Russia," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Lavrov noted that a close dialogue between Moscow and New Delhi is in high demand against the background of the conflict unleashed by the United States and Israel over Iran.

Last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia in 2026. The Russian leader invited Modi to Russia to participate in the XXIV annual Russian-Indian summit.

He also stated that Russia and India are working hand in hand in establishing a just multipolar world and expressed confidence in the agreements reached with India.
