Trump's ex-adviser announced the US interest in investing in Sevpotoks
George Papadopoulos, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump, said that Washington is interested in possible investments in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline projects. He announced this on March 23.
"The Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, I think, are extremely important and very interesting projects for potential U.S. investments," Papadopoulos told RIA Novosti.
According to him, after the lifting of sanctions, Russian-American cooperation can begin to recover, including in the energy sector.
On March 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov recalled that Washington had previously sought Europe's rejection of gas through the Nord Stream pipelines, as a result of which Germany, according to the minister, was "humiliated." Now, according to Lavrov, Hungary and Slovakia are trying to maintain access to cheap energy, but they are being forced to buy twice as much under the pretext of "punishing" Russia.
