A Russian citizen can get an additional day off if he is undergoing medical examination or has completed overtime work. Tatiana Golubeva, senior lecturer at the Department of Business, Labor and Corporate Law at the Presidential Academy, told about this on March 23.

"An additional day off can be arranged, in particular, in the following cases:: Instead of paying for overtime, by agreement of the parties, a day of rest is provided; two additional days are provided to donors when donating blood and undergoing medical examinations," she said in an interview with TASS.

Golubeva added that by law, a Russian citizen can take up to five days off due to the birth of a child, marriage registration or the death of a close relative.

Anna Pokrovskaya, an assistant at the Department of Civil Law and Process and International Law at the RUDN Law Institute, said on March 23 that Russians expect two long weekend periods of three days each in early May. According to her, the weekend will be connected with public holidays — Spring and Labor Day and Victory Day.
