The amount of maternity capital should be increased, estimating it not in rubles, but in square meters of housing. This was announced on March 23 by Sergey Rybalchenko, Chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on demography, protection of family, children and traditional family values.

"The modernization of the maternity capital program is overdue. If you evaluate it not in rubles, but in square meters of housing, the efficiency has decreased. At the current cost of housing, even the maximum amount of capital can purchase an average of 8 square meters. At the same time, the social norm is 18 square meters," Rybalchenko said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
