A strong magnetic storm has hit the Earth again

A geomagnetic storm continues on Earth. This was announced on March 22 at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS.

"The geomagnetic storm continues. According to space weather monitoring, the degree of disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field is at the G3 level. Power is measured on a scale of five indicators, where G5 is "extremely strong" and G1 is "weak," the report says.

The main event was a strong G3 magnetic storm that occurred in the morning of March 21. Part of the event took place at night and was accompanied by intense auroras in the central and northwestern regions of Russia.

In the middle of the day, the solar wind indicators reached peak disturbed values, but in the period from 18 to 21 hours in Moscow they began to decrease rapidly, as a result of which the situation sharply stabilized. The expected second peak of the storm and auroras did not occur in the evening.

At the moment, there is a possibility of disturbances and weak storms. Repeated access to G2–G3 indicators is considered low. Solar flare activity continues to remain at an extremely low level.
