The expert warned about the danger of condensation on the windows
The appearance of condensation on windows during the cold season can lead to the development and growth of microscopic mold fungi in the room. About this on March 22 in an interview with "Gazeta.Ru," said Maria Zolotareva, Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology and Industrial Pharmacy at RTU MIREA.
"With the constant presence of condensation and its leakage into the cracks, organic materials such as wallpaper glue, plaster, wood can become a medium for the consolidation and growth of colonies. This process is not instantaneous, but if humidity persists for weeks, the likelihood of visible foci, most often in the form of dark or colored spots, increases," she said.
The development of fungi is activated under the condition of a positive temperature and relative humidity in the room above 65-70%. The constant presence of microbial spores has an impact on air quality and, consequently, on the health of people who inhale it. Fungal spores and metabolites can cause respiratory tract irritation and exacerbation of certain diseases. This is especially true for sensitive groups of people, including allergy sufferers and asthmatics.
"For most healthy people, one—time or short-term contacts do not pose a serious threat, however, prolonged living in rooms with a high concentration of mold spores is not recommended," Zolotareva warned.
Scientists from Yale University (an organization whose activities are considered undesirable in the Russian Federation) found out at the beginning of the year that early exposure to various microbes and proteins forms a broad immune memory and antibodies that help block allergic reactions in the future. According to the publication, the new results indicate that exposure to allergens and the production of IgG antibodies can help treat existing allergies. These findings also highlight the role that the environment plays in activating autoimmune diseases.
