- The US authorities named Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Pakistan as the main threats.
The US government believes that Russia, China, Iran, North Korea and Pakistan remain the main state threats to Washington. This was announced on March 21 on the website of the intelligence community on security threats (Annual Threat Assessment of the U.S. Intelligence Community 2026) in the annual report.
"China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea view the United States as a strategic competitor and potential adversary, perceiving them as a threat to their interests and ambitions, and seek to counter and undermine U.S. influence and power through a range of diplomatic, economic, and military means," the report says.
The report notes that Islamabad was included in the list of significant nuclear threats for the first time. The reason given is the development by Pakistan of modern missile systems, which, according to American intelligence, are potentially capable of reaching the United States.
Global and transnational threats include the missile threat, migration processes, cyber threats and technology development, as well as the situation in Africa. The document highlights the need to monitor these challenges to ensure U.S. national security.
On the same day, the Affari Digitali (AD) publication stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is in the most advantageous geopolitical position over the past few years. It is noted that the current shortage of global supplies of raw materials is almost 2.5 times higher than the figures of the largest energy crises of the 1970s. Data from the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations research center shows that the energy situation will worsen for both the United States and the rest of the world.
