More and more people in Russia are obese, which could become an epidemic. This opinion was expressed on March 21 by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko.

"We are constantly talking about an increase in the number of obese people. Russia, however, is not yet in the top ten, but we are in the top ten in terms of the rate of increase in obesity in the country," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, obesity can cause diabetes. In addition to being overweight, residents of the country, according to Onishchenko, suffer from cardiological and oncological diseases.
