The dog handler warned about the unexpected danger of dog-friendly places
The president of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, told what dangers can be in dog-friendly places.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, March 20, the expert noted that such a format often creates the illusion of security, although in fact it requires no less care from the owner. According to him, not all dogs are ready for such places, and for some it can be stressful.
He warned that in a cafe, a pet can pick up dangerous food from the floor — there may be toxic products for animals among the ingredients, so it is important to monitor the dog's behavior and teach it basic commands. The specialist also drew attention to public bowls: even with regular washing, they can be a source of infections, so it's better to use your own dishes. Additionally, there may be conflicts between dogs due to the "resource".
The expert added that stagnant reservoirs, which may contain bacteria and toxins, are also dangerous. In addition, it is important to take into account the nature of the pet: for some, such places are a joy, for others they are very stressful.
He named control, a leash, his own bowl, treats, and consideration of the dog's behavior and the comfort of others as the basic rules.
On March 13, Golubev told Izvestia that the main threat to dogs in the spring is pyroplasmosis. As the expert noted, owners should carefully monitor the dog's condition after walks. If a tick is found, it must be carefully pulled out with tweezers or a special tool, unscrewing and trying not to damage the parasite's abdomen.
In February, Golubev told the Moscow city News agency that turnstiles, automatic doors, escalators and other mechanisms in an urban environment are dangerous for dogs. In particular, turnstiles can slam shut if the dog hesitates and does not pass in the allotted time, and sudden blocking can lead to bumps and bruises.
At the same time, the site survey kp.ru He showed that 42% of Russians support the presence of animals in public catering. 23% noted that we are talking only about pets that the owner brings, keeps under supervision, and which definitely will not attack visitors or infect them with any infections. 55% of Russians reported that, in their opinion, animals do not belong in catering establishments.
Last March, Golubev noted that even people who work hard should not give up on getting a dog. According to him, the Shih Tzu and Chihuahua dog breeds are suitable for workaholics. In particular, Chihuahuas are ideal for active people. They are ready to follow the owner anywhere: to the office, to a meeting or a corporate event, notes 360.ru .
