US President Donald Trump has criticized NATO, calling the alliance a paper tiger due to the refusal of European allies to support a possible military operation in the Strait of Hormuz. He wrote about this on March 20 in his Truth Social network.

"Without the United States, NATO is a paper tiger! They did not want to join the fight against a nuclear Iran. Now that the fight has been won militarily and the danger to them is very low, they complain about high oil prices," the American leader said.

Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the position of European countries that had previously refused to send their warships to the region to ensure the safety of navigation.

On March 15, Donald Trump appealed to countries dependent on oil supplied through the Strait of Hormuz, blocked by Iran, to ensure the safety of this transport route. He then threatened NATO with a "bad future" if it refused to help unblock the water area.
