Alexey Fradin, who has been working in cultural institutions in St. Petersburg for more than 30 years, has been appointed director of the Lensovet Theater. This was announced on March 20 in the press service of the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg.

"Alexey Fradin has been appointed director of the Lensovet Theater," the Telegram channel said.

Alexey Selukov has been appointed interim director of the N.P. Akimov Comedy Theater, which Fradin has headed since 2015.

Fradin began his career at the Ice Theater (since 2006 — artistic director), then he was the director of the children's musical theater "Through the Looking Glass". With his participation, the annual Golden Spotlight award ceremony of St. Petersburg's highest theater award is being held.

The Lensovet Theater dates back to 1933, and has had its current name since 1953. Over the years, it was headed by Boris Sushkevich, Nikolai Akimov, Igor Vladimirov, Vladislav Pazi, and Yuri Butusov. Since 2019, Larisa Luppian, People's Artist of Russia, has been the artistic director. The theater's repertoire includes more than 40 performances.

On March 11, Ildar Abdrazakov was appointed the new artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theater. Governor Alexander Beglov recalled that Abdrazakov also heads the Sevastopol Opera House. The former artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theater, Vladimir Kekhman, left his post in January. He worked in this position for more than 10 years.
