In addition, all Galitsky's accounts were seized, which, according to the information in the GP's lawsuit, contain over 7 billion rubles. Thus, the total amount of blocked funds may amount to about 8-10 billion rubles.
The enforcement proceedings were initiated on the basis of the ruling of the Tverskoy District Court of Moscow dated March 11. The court also temporarily restricted Galitsky's travel outside of Russia, prohibited him from opening new accounts and registering property.
The Prosecutor General's Office believes that keeping assets owned by a businessman may contribute to financing prohibited activities. The Agency seeks to convert the property into state revenue.
Lawyers point out that such measures are of an interim nature.
"This is a fairly common measure, it is directly enshrined in article 139 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Russian Federation. These are interim measures of the court," lawyer Alexander Zorin explained to Izvestia.
According to him, the arrest is being imposed to prevent the withdrawal of assets before the end of the trial and can be canceled if the claim is not satisfied.
