Lukashenko stressed the dependence of the EU countries on Russia's energy resources

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Russia will dictate terms to Europe, which refused to buy Russian energy resources. He said this on March 20 in an interview with reporters, the video was published on the Telegram channel "Pool One".

"It's already a big loss today. Our elder brother (Vladimir Putin - ed.), you are probably so carefully hinting to him that he has understood, he will already dictate terms to them. But they won't go anywhere," Lukashenko said.

According to the Belarusian leader, Europe has already "jumped up" in its desire to receive energy resources from Russia. He noted that he had repeatedly called for preserving the European Union (EU) as a single pillar of the planet, emphasizing that the best resource base for Europeans is in Russia.

"It is necessary to build normal relations with the countries, with us. And everything will be fine," Lukashenko believes.

Instead of cooperating with Moscow and Minsk, in his opinion, the Europeans "went the other way" and "flattened themselves to the Americans back in the days of Biden."

A possible topic for discussion will be the purchase of Belarusian petroleum products.

On the same day, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, after meeting with the American delegation led by special envoy of the President of the United States John Cole, said that Washington does not aim to distance the republic from Russia. According to the Belarusian leader, international issues were discussed during the talks, as well as approaches to cooperation with Russia and China.

On March 12, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that European countries continue to squeeze Russian energy resources from their market, despite their indispensability for Europeans. According to the official representative of the ministry, Maria Zakharova, the Russian side is trying to avoid politicizing the issue of energy supplies to European consumers, despite discriminatory and anti-market actions by the European Union (EU).

Vladimir Putin said on March 9 that Russia was ready to work with the Europeans on the issue of oil and gas supplies, but signals of their readiness were needed. He also added that the country may decide to transfer energy supplies from the European market to "more interesting areas" without expecting Europe itself to "demonstratively slam the door" on this initiative.
