At a meeting of the regulator, experts from the Central Bank of Russia considered options for maintaining the key rate at 15.5% and reducing it by 100 basis points. This was announced on March 20 by the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina.

She clarified that the main discussion revolved around a more moderate step.

"We have a broad consensus around a 50 basis point rate cut," Nabiullina added.
