Former Portugal goalkeeper Silvino Louro has died at the age of 67. This was reported on March 20 by the publication A Bola.
The cause of the athlete's death was a long-term illness.
Over the years, Louro has defended the colors of clubs such as Benfica, Porto, Vitoria Setubal, Vitoria Guimaraes, Aves and Salgueiros. He has won six Portuguese league titles and two European Champions Cup finals (1988, 1990) with Benfica. The goalkeeper played 23 matches for the national team of his country.
After completing his playing career, Louroux was a permanent member of Jose Mourinho's coaching staff for more than 20 years. He has worked for leading European clubs including Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid and Manchester United. Under his leadership, the world stars of the goalkeeper workshop — Petr Cech, Julio Cesar and Vitor Baia — were recognized as the best goalkeepers of the year by UEFA.
