On April 1, a court in Moscow will begin considering the case against football player Fyodor Smolov about a fight in a cafe. This was announced on March 20 by his lawyer Varvara Knutova.

"The case will be considered by the 418th judicial district. The meeting is scheduled for April 1 at 12:00 Moscow time," Knutova told TASS.

Smolov pleaded guilty on March 18 and paid the victim 1 million rubles in compensation. It is noted that the athlete's defense side intends to petition the court to release Smolov from criminal liability and impose a fine on him.

On the same day, the Moscow prosecutor's office announced that Smolov's criminal case on a fight in a Moscow cafe would be brought to court. A medical examination confirmed that the injury qualifies as a moderate injury.

The initiation of a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of moderate harm to health, not life-threatening") against the football player became known on September 10 last year.

Smolov's wife Karina Istomina declined to comment on her husband's criminal case. According to her, it was aroused "because it happened that way." The girl declined to comment further.
