MWM reported on Iran's possible use of the Majid air defense system against the F-35 fighter

The downing of the American F-35 fighter jet was probably caused by the Iranian Majid anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), also known as AD-08. Military Watch Magazine (MWM) wrote about this on March 20.

"The downing of the aircraft has serious consequences for the current air campaign and will potentially reduce the efforts of the United States and Israel to use stealth aircraft to strike deep into Iran <...> Although the F-35 was designed specifically to strike well-protected enemy airspace, fighter jets have not yet been used in operations with a similar high risk," — writes the publication.

The MWM added that if the Iranian air defense systems are really capable of shooting down American F-35s, then this jeopardizes the equipment of the air forces of 20 countries. The publication emphasizes that the Majid strike on the F-35 was the first precedent when a surface-to-air missile hit an American aircraft.

On March 19, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the downing of the Majid air defense system of the American F-35 Lightning II fighter. The military added that the attack on the plane took place in the central part of Iran, with a high degree of probability, the ship crashed.

On the same day, CNN denied information about the destruction of the aircraft. According to media reports, the aircraft landed safely. The pilot is in stable condition. It is noted that this is the first such case since the beginning of the conflict, when, allegedly, the Iranian side attacked an American plane.
