Budapest will approve the draft budget of the European Union (EU) for seven years, which includes payments to Kiev, if the alliance returns the frozen money from its funds. This was announced on March 20 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"I spoke at the EU summit about the essential issues of the new budget. <...> First, in order to adopt a new budget, it is necessary to close the old one. This means that the money that has not been allocated so far must be allocated. Otherwise, there will be no new budget," he said on M1 TV channel.

According to him, the plan includes spending in the amount of 360-370 billion euros intended for Ukraine. The Hungarian prime minister said that he had outlined Hungary's position, which he did not want to change. Orban clarified that the alliance is now on the verge of collapse and, if the situation does not change for the better, the project being prepared to finance it may be the last.

Commenting on the EU heads of state summit held the day before, the Hungarian Prime Minister declared his resilience to the blackmail his country was subjected to there. He also said on the same day that Hungary would not support a single EU decision, which could potentially be useful for Ukraine as long as this country blocks oil supplies. Meanwhile, Kiev, according to Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, demanded that Europe give him another €5.5 billion.
