212 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 212 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 12 people were killed and 259 injured. 10 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on March 20 by the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI). The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
11 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 13 road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
As a result of 67 accidents, 31 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 36 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, and 69 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 14 underage pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. There were also 259 registered accidents involving minors, in which 30 young road users, including 14 passengers, were injured. There are no dead children.
In addition, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced in some regions of the country due to adverse weather conditions and the onset of spring floods. So, in the Lipetsk region, as a result of the flood, sections of five regional highways were flooded, which is why traffic was temporarily stopped on them. In the Jewish Autonomous Region, bus traffic was temporarily restricted due to snow and ice on the section of the federal highway R-297 Amur from 1948 to 2103 km and on three regional roads.
On the eve of the upcoming weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. If traffic restrictions are imposed or road sections are closed due to worsening weather, it would be right to temporarily refrain from long trips, postponing them to a later date until favorable weather conditions occur, the department said.
"The State Traffic Inspectorate also reminds motorists that the life and health of their young passengers depend entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. We draw the attention of drivers to the strict observance of the rules for transporting children. Take care of young passengers, preventing even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to the results of 2025, the highest proportion of car owners with the maximum discount for accident-free driving under CTP was recorded in Moscow. As it was clarified on March 13, in the capital, more than half of drivers (52.3%) have a minimum value of the bonus-malus coefficient (KBM).
