Igor Grechushkin, a Russian released in Bulgaria, has left for Cyprus. This was reported to Izvestia on March 20 at the Russian Embassy in Sofia.

"According to the information available to the embassy, Igor Grechushkin has left for the Republic of Cyprus, of which he is also a citizen," the diplomatic mission reported.

On the same day, it became known about Grechushkin's release. The information was confirmed by the suspect's lawyer Ekaterina Dimitrova. It was noted that in order to leave the country, he needed to obtain the original of the court's decision and lift the travel ban, which took another one to two weeks.

Grechushkin was the owner of the Rhosus ship that exploded in Beirut in 2020. The man was put on the wanted list at the request of the Lebanese judicial authorities and detained on September 16, 2025. On September 21, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Russia was monitoring the situation surrounding Grechushkin's detention. It was clarified that, if necessary, employees of the consular department of the embassy are ready to assist the Russian.

The explosion in the port of Beirut occurred on August 4, 2020. As a result of the incident, 137 people died, about 5,000 were injured, and several dozen are missing. At the same time, about 300 thousand people lost their homes. Over a hundred buildings were destroyed and damaged due to the explosion. The damage was estimated at several billion dollars.
