On March 20, the Russian Football Union (RFU) announced the final composition of the Russian national team for friendly matches with Nicaragua and Mali. The list includes Monaco midfielder Alexander Golovin and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov, according to the organization's website.
The Russian national team will play two matches in March. On the 27th, Valery Karpin's team will host the Nicaraguan team in Krasnodar, and on March 31 in St. Petersburg they will play with Mali.
Safonov last defended the gates of the national team in November last year, in a friendly game against Peru. After that meeting, the goalkeeper left the national team and did not play with the Chileans. Golovin, on the other hand, took part in all the November matches and scored a goal for the Peruvians.
In total, the head coach called 31 players. The application also includes: goalkeeper Maxim Borisko (Baltika), defender Igor Diveev (Zenit), midfielders Alexey Batrakov (Lokomotiv), Matvey Kislyak and Dmitry Barinov (CSKA), striker Konstantin Tyukavin (Dynamo Moscow).
