The first body of the Jeland model was welded at the former GM plant in St. Petersburg.

The first car body of the new Russian brand Jeland has been welded at the AGR holding automobile plant in Shushary, St. Petersburg (a former General Motors, GM enterprise), which has undergone a complete technical re-equipment. The company's press service announced this on March 20.

Representatives of AGR stated that the welding workshop at the plant was actually created anew. So, to launch production, industrial floors were reinforced taking into account new loads, additional metal structures were installed, new technological equipment was installed, and a laboratory with a control and measuring machine was created. About 600 containers with equipment were delivered and unloaded to the site, and 120 industrial robots were installed in the welding production.

"The formation of the technological infrastructure was implemented in an exceptionally short time. The installation of the main equipment took about two months, a time frame that industry experts call unprecedented for projects of this scale," the holding said.

The welding shop is equipped with modern automated systems, it uses five types of sealants for various purposes, and quality control is carried out by a machine vision system. The workshop is designed to produce four body models, each of which can have several modifications.: with standard or panoramic roof, front or all-wheel drive. In total, the production line can produce up to 12 different body variants, the company added.

The Jeland brand was developed by AGR Holding and China's Defetoo, and was announced on February 3. The start of production of Jeland vehicles is scheduled for the first half of 2026. This is the second project implemented as part of the partnership between the parties, after the Tenet brand, whose cars are manufactured in Kaluga. Their third brand will be Tenet Plus.
