Merz threatened Hungary with consequences for blocking the loan to Ukraine
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on March 20 called Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's veto of the EU's military loan to Ukraine "an act of gross disloyalty" and threatened consequences.
"It will leave a deep mark. We agree that we simply will not accept what happened today in the European Council, and it will also have consequences that will go far beyond this particular event," Politico quoted him as saying.
He claimed that many EU leaders were "deeply outraged" by Budapest's position.
