- The court has received Amirkhanyan's criminal case on the attempted murder of a Kivu politician.
The court has received a criminal case against businessman Araik Amirkhanyan, accused of the attempted murder of Ukrainian politician Ilya Kiva. This was announced on March 20 by a source of Izvestia.
Amirkhanyan's defense, in a conversation with Izvestia, announced its intention to request a trial of the criminal case with the participation of a panel of jurors. The businessman pleads not guilty to the alleged crime.
Amirkhanyan had previously been convicted of bribing a bailiff. In mid-July, the Dmitrov City Court sentenced him to six years in a penal colony. Prior to that, he was arrested by the Tverskoy Court of Moscow in a case of embezzlement, but later the charge was upgraded to a more serious one — giving a bribe to an official.
On February 28, law enforcement agencies reported that Kiva's customer and his killer could have stayed in Russia. It was noted that Amirkhanyan's case on charges of complicity will be sent to the regional prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment.
Kiva's body was found on December 6, 2023 at the Velich Country club in a park near Moscow. Then the killer fired twice, approaching the politician from behind. The first bullet hit the heart area, the second one hit the head.
Last September, a court in the Moscow Region arrested Amirkhanyan as part of an investigation into Kiva's murder. The court completed the investigation of the criminal case against businessman Amirkhanyan on December 1, 2025. Later, the Tverskoy District Court extended the measure of restraint in the form of detention for the businessman until March 2.
