The WSJ reported on Trump's intention to review the country's immigration policy
US President Donald Trump intends to review the policy of mass deportation of illegal citizens of the country. This was reported on March 19 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
"President Trump is seeking to reduce the public outcry over his mass deportation program and has instructed his top advisers to change their approach to one of his key campaign promises," the publication said.
It is noted that in the United States, some of the measures taken exceeded the tasks that fit into the framework of understanding "deportation" — Trump was trying to fight crime at the same time.
The initiator of the "reset" of US immigration policy was, according to the publication, the head of the Trump administration, Susie Wiles. She believes that one of the main issues that Trump plans to solve during his presidency has turned into a more complex problem than it was before.
It also plans to change the policy of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
"The changes in ICE policy were initiated by Tom Homan, the chief coordinator for border issues at the White House. <...> Homan, who has long held a relatively balanced position in the administration on immigration issues, prefers that ICE officers focus on the main arrests of criminals," ICE stressed.
The publication added that at the moment, ICE has no plans to conduct large-scale operations.
The newspaper suggested that due to the "reset" of the policy of mass deportation of illegal immigrants, the dismissal of the country's Minister of Internal Security, Kristy Noem, is possible.
