Tick-borne encephalitis can be contracted without a bite. It is enough to crush the insect with your hand or not boil the milk. This was announced on March 20 by Elena Babura, head of the Department of Rospotrebnadzor of the Kaliningrad region.

"An alimentary way is also possible when using raw milk — goat's milk, less often cow's and sheep's milk. The virus enters the milk if the animal has been bitten by a tick. The risk is not only milk, but also dairy products that have not undergone heat treatment," the expert shared in an interview with RIA Novosti.
